Description of Services

  • Anger Management Program for men runs for thirteen (13) weeks
  • Anger Management Program for women runs for ten (13) weeks
  • Anger Management Program for youth/teens runs for thirteen (13) weeks
  • Mixed group of five (5) to ten (10) run for thirteen (13) weeks

Areas Explored

All programs involve active participation of persons enrolled, with a signed contract to follow the duration of the program. The program is designed to help youth, teens and adults identify that although anger is a normal emotion, it can/may involve different techniques, attitudes, challenging thoughts and behaviours. Program also includes homework and assignments geared towards helping clients build better interpersonal skills. A letter assessing client’s progress and confirming completion of the program is given at successful completion of the course to all participants.

  • Understanding anger as a normal emotion — (healthy vs. unhealthy anger)
  • Exploration of “triggers” — (the search for clues- taking inventory)
  • Learning management skills / techniques — (smart goal-setting)
  • Relaxation skills — (mindfulness techniques)
  • Problem solving — (Utilizing alternatives to aggression)
  • Assertiveness as an ally — (role-play to verbalize emotion)
  • Using communication effectively (Positive self-talk) — (seeing self as message-conveyer)
  • Interpersonal relationships — (understanding our place in society/world)
  • Conflict resolution — (Exploration and adaptation of styles)
  • Modification of behaviour — (owning thoughts and actions)
  • Looking within — (embracing/being at peace with “self”)
  • Relapse intervention — (application of skills / behaviours)
  • Termination & effectual closure — (identification of goals met)

Goals

  • To help client understand, diffuse and cope with angry emotions effectively
  • To empower clients to see themselves as interpersonal beings, capable of resolving conflicts
  • To enable clients to build a level of self-worth, as productive contributors to society
